Our team is on a small recon trip, but the sunshine here made me think of the bleak New York winter currently plaguing the rest of our crew. To honor tis season of snow, we’ve planned a weekend of festive holiday events at our store (Komune, 92 Orchard St.) from December 12th to the 14th.

Secret Santa is a holiday gift-exchange tradition where participants are anonymously paired to give and receive a small present. It’s meant to celebrate the spirit of generosity and festivity, I think? Google tells me Secret Santa, as practiced today, is a modern evolution of earlier anonymous gift-giving traditions, like the Scandinavian practice of Julklapp, in which a giver would:
knock or toss a small gift into someone’s home,
deliver it anonymously,
and run away before being identified.
How fitting that I am reading this from the birthplace of “it’s just a prank”. History circles back in unexpected ways.
To join our Secret Santa, fill out the form in the above link and our matching algorithm will assign you a partner. All gifting details will be emailed out on Wednesday, 12/10. It’ll function like our Valentines Day event last year.
